Papers of Abel Rathbone Corbin, editor of the Missouri Argus from 1835 to 1841. Corbin was influential in the Missouri Democratic Party, and corresponded with Gov. Daniel Dunklin, Senators Thomas Hart Benton and Lewis Fields Linn, and U.S. Reps. Albert G. Harrison, James Butler Bowlin, and John S. Phelps. After leaving the Argus, Corbin spent several years working for a Congressional committee (probably the Committee on Territories) in Washington. His later correspondence concerns the transcontinental railroad and telegraph line construction. Corbin's papers include individual letters from Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. Other papers include deeds to land in Woodbridge, N.J., 1727-ca. 1830, and deeds to land in Raritan and Metuchen, N.J. of the late 19th century.
